 Rod Plaisted will be joining the Campion Academy staff as Maintenance Director starting in September.
Plaisted comes to us from Maine where he has been working as the facilities manager for the Northern New England Conference. Prior to that he was a self-employed contractor for around 30 years. He primarily worked in home renovations and has experience in building custom homes. “I’ve always wanted to check out Colorado,” Plaisted shared when asked what interested him in the job. “I think the Rockies are one of the coolest places on earth. And I love the adventure of jumping into a new field and asking the Lord to guide me.” When asked how he feels about training teenagers, he exclaimed, “I think it’s awesome! I love that Campion still incorporates a work program and I think it’s so important. I strongly believe in mentoring young people.” Plaisted will be moving to Campion in September along with his wife Liz. They both have grown children who live in New Hampshire and Minnesota. In his free time, Plaisted enjoys fishing, canoeing, and just being out in nature. He looks forward to exploring Colorado and “the freshness of a new ministry” for him at Campion.

 We are happy to announce that Caleb Jahn will join the full-time faculty serving as our Athletic Director, Work Coordinator and teaching Health and Physical Education. Caleb Jahn and his wife Codi are familiar faces to most Campion students as for many years they have helped coach volleyball, led out in intramurals, hosted classes for Friday night meals, and organized student game nights.
The step to full-time involvement at Campion Academy will be a significant career change for Jahn as for the past decade he has been managing his own trucking business and prior to that worked in the aviation industry as a pilot and flight instructor. Jahn shared that several years ago while he was praying for God to bring the right people to fill open positions at Campion, he felt God nudging him to get involved himself. After that, he and Codi began spending more time volunteering and opening their home to the students. Then in June, he made the decision to close his primary business, Davidson Industries, Inc. due to regulation changes and personnel issues. He had planned to spend more time developing their shipping container business, primarily run by Codi, until the Athletic Director position remained open mid summer. “I felt like it was definitely God's leading because of the timing of everything,” Jahn explained; “It seems that God has been building us up for an occasion like this.” “Being an Athletic Director, P.E., and health teacher combines two of my passions, which are working with high school students and health and fitness,” Jahn remarked. He loves all types of sports and has enjoyed coaching volleyball especially. In his personal life, he has always prioritized leading an active and healthy lifestyle. Not only that, but Jahn is a Type I diabetic, which has necessitated his knowledge of properly regulating nutrition. “I have to know about how my body will react to everything that I put into it, especially being an active person,” he explained. “I need to know how my blood sugar will behave under certain conditions. I've done a lot of century rides, marathons, and other lengthy activities, and so I have to be very calculated as a diabetic to be able to do that on the healthy side.” As Athletic Director, Jahn emphasized that he wants to grow the athletic department while keeping it Christ-centered. “I want the students to use involvement in sports as a way to learn to overcome obstacles, further themselves, and face challenges. It’s not just about winning and losing; it’s important to keep a Christ-centered atmosphere.” Jahn felt that managing his own business definitely taught him the skills necessary to run the work program at Campion. With his trucking company, he oversaw twelve drivers and contracted with many businesses. “I am used to managing a very fluid and a very complicated schedule, and setting standards for workers,” Jahn said. Since accepting the position, Jahn has been diving into learning the curriculum for P.E. and health and the scheduling system for sports games. “From flight school to taking on my own business, I’m used to learning that’s like drinking from a firehose,” he added. When he’s not working, Jahn enjoys spending time with his wife and three children: Conner, Callista, and Carson, all students at HMS Richards Adventist School. From hiking to skiing to motorcycling, he says they love doing anything active. Jahn concluded, “I’m looking forward to being around the students and playing sports with them. Being around teenagers is energizing for me!”  Lindsey Santana is pictured with her husband Shawn and their children, Violet and Caspian. We are thrilled to share the news that Lindsey Santana has accepted the position of Chaplain at Campion Academy! After months of sorting through many applications, our school board personnel committee felt certain that our own Mrs. Santana was the right person to provide spiritual guidance and programming for our students.
