Please join us in welcoming Rachelle Martling, who will serve as the Assistant Girl’s Dean. Martling is moving to Colorado from Michigan where she spent a year working on a Master of Divinity degree at Andrews University, before deciding to pursue a position as a dean and teacher. Martling grew up as an academy staff kid at Upper Columbia Academy in Washington. After graduating from UCA, she attended Walla Walla University and completed a degree in Theology. During college, she completed her internship in youth ministries. Later, she spent two years as a Family and Outreach Pastor at Adventist Community Church in Vancouver, Washington before moving to Andrews University. Recently, she has felt a calling to move to academy work. “My childhood had a lot to do with the academy life, and I’ve always wanted to give back,” she explained. “Even going into pastoring, working at an academy was always on my mind and my heart. Recently, many people have been encouraging me to look into teaching and the Holy Spirit kept impressing me that this was the right direction.” Rachelle is married to Ben Martling and they have two young boys: Rendle (4), and Daniel (2). Ben does woodworking and detail carpentry work and will also be helping to care for their two sons. As a family, they enjoy going for walks as well as cooking and baking. Martling concluded, “I’m looking forward to being able to mentor and work with the students, especially the girls in the dorm. I want to support them through the challenging times of adolescence while letting the Holy Spirit lead me to be a positive influence for Christ.” Furthermore, we are thrilled to announce that Cherie Haffner has decided to continue at Campion and will take on the role of Head Girl’s Dean. Haffner said that she absolutely loves being a dean. While she finds the role rewarding, it presents a challenge as her husband lives in California and they have to travel to see each other on weekends and breaks. However, after more prayer and discussion, both she and her husband agree that this is where God wants her to be.
