Sophomores create strong bonds as they explore Moab

This past week, the sophomore’s went to Moab for their annual biology trip, led by Erica Franklin, exploring the ruins of Mesa Verde,  Arches National Park, and much more.

The sophomores first stopped at Cortez and spent their first night at the Seventh-day Adventist school, providing worship for the students in the morning. Afterwards, they headed to Mesa Verde and took a tour of the ruins. 

“It was so cool seeing how the ancient people in the desert used to live on the side of mountains. They had these big cool holes which would be used as homes.” Daniel Ortiz, exclaimed.

After they went to Mesa Verde, they made their way to a campground in Moab where they set up camp for the next several days. The next morning they went rafting in the Colorado River and then went on several hikes. 

“I had a great experience in Moab. I was able to bond with my friends and with the sponsors on the rafts as well. I sat in multiple rafts because I had to be saved out of the water several times, and it was really fun!” Chris Davis stated.

Besides all the activities and hikes, many sophomores repeated the sentiment that they appreciated the time to connect with their classmates. “I had so much fun at Moab! I got to bond with my class in so many ways. I was able to learn more about them when we had deep conversations, and we all shared exhaustion from our many activities. It brought us closer together, and I formed new friendships.” Aspen Phelps shared.
