We are excited to welcome Andrew Blomberg to the Campion Academy team as Maintenance Director. Blomberg was living locally in Windsor and has been working as a handyman, which has allowed him to begin working immediately, overlapping with Rod Plaisted to learn the ropes over the next few weeks. He began on June 4 and is already overseeing the student work crew for the summer. Blomberg has a varied background with over ten years of experience in construction including carpentry, concrete, equipment operation, and general maintenance. He’s familiar with academy work, having worked at Oklahoma Academy, Ouachita Hills Academy, and Castle Valley Academy. However, Blomberg’s experience isn’t limited to construction; he went to culinary school and worked in the food industry for seven years at the start of his career. Blomberg has felt a call towards ministry at many points in his life. He went to Pacific Union College to study theology; however, he ultimately decided not to pursue becoming a pastor. Despite the ups and downs, God continued to work on his heart and point the way forward. Uncertain of what his future held, he took a job in security at a hospital emergency department hospital. During this time, his faith was renewed as he witnessed time and again the power of prayer. “At the time, I hadn’t understood what it meant to be a minister,” Blomberg shared; “You don’t have to be a pastor to be a minister. I realized God was using me to minister right where I was. I told God, ‘Lord if this is where you want me to be, then I’m happy to be here – thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a minister.’” But after that realization, God opened the way for him to make a greater impact: “Five months later I headed out to Ouachita Hills Academy to work in ministry.” After continuing to serve in various positions at Adventist institutions, he moved out to Colorado in 2023 and worked at Eden Valley for a year. With his sister and mother living in Denver, he decided to stay in the area and continued working as a handyman. He is also an active member and leader at the Fort Collins Seventh-day Adventist church. This continued call to use his skills in an area of ministry has eventually led him to the job at Campion Academy. In his free time, Blomberg says, “I like to cook for friends. I like music, including playing the guitar and writing music. I enjoy fishing, camping, and anything I can do on and in the water.”
