February 9, 2022 - Update to masking policy
With the lifting of the masking requirement in Larimer County on February 12, Campion Academy has considered the best course of action for our school. Upon reviewing the updated recommendations from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Campion Academy’s administrative council approved the following changes.
Campion Academy will remove the masking requirements once we are no longer in an outbreak status, which is targeted to end on February 28.
Masking will remain required while we are in an outbreak status. Due to the number of positive cases on campus over the past several weeks, we are currently in an outbreak status until at least February 28 (this could be extended if multiple positive cases arise). Masks will no longer be required after this date. While not required after this time, Campion Academy will be respectful of any student or staff who chooses to continue to mask.
After this date, if we enter into an outbreak status again, then masks will again be required indoors until that outbreak status closes.
Additionally, we will remove the requirement for students and staff to take a PCR COVID test before returning from a school break. In order to reduce the chance of a potential outbreak, we would instead require masking indoors for one week after students return to campus after each break.
The removal of the mask requirement would not significantly increase isolation due to contact tracing. Campion would only require that roommates and suitemates isolate due to an exposure and those involved in high exposure activities including transportation, music and sports.
Special considerations for high-risk activities:
Transportation
The federal mask mandate for transportation has been extended to March 18, 2022, so masking will continue to be required on school transportation.
Musical groups
Participation in musical groups is considered a high-risk activity for COVID exposure, so these groups would continue to mask while singing and playing instruments in order to avoid isolating the entire group if a positive case was found. If more than three non-associated individuals from a music group become positive, then we will have to consider isolating the group despite masking.
Indoor Sports
Indoor sports are also considered a high risk activity for COVID exposure. Due to the poor ability to maintain mask wearing during sports, all team members would have to isolate in the event of a positive case regardless of masking. Therefore, we would remove the mask wearing requirement because of their limited effectiveness in this situation.
Exemptions from Isolation
Students and staff would not have to isolate due to an exposure, even in a high-risk activity if they meet one of the following criteria as outlined by the CDC:
The lifting of the mask requirement has been long awaited, and we are all very excited for the opportunity to return to pre-COVID norms. I want to thank the Campion Academy family for their patience and cooperation with our policies as we strive to maintain a safe environment for in-person education.

Campion Academy's COVID isolation and quarantine policy, linked below, has recently been updated. Notably there have been two primary changes:
- The quarantine period of a close contact can be reduced to 7 days with a negative Rapid PCR test on Day 7.
- Fully vaccinated individuals are exempt from quarantine only if they meet the following stipulations: They are within 6 months of their second vaccination of Moderna or Pfizer, or within 2 months of Johnson and Johnson, or they have received a booster vaccination within six months.
October 21, 2021 COVID UPDATE
Beginning Tuesday, October 20, Campion Academy has had a COVID outbreak amongst students and staff. Isolation, contact-tracing, and quarantine procedures were immediately put into place to reduce the further spread of the virus.
Not all students and staff are on the isolation list. However, due to the number of students placed in quarantine, beginning today, classes are being held online-only, and other activities have been suspended. Students that are not under restrictions are using the campus facilities for recreation and spiritual-life activities.
Students have been given the option to remain in the residence halls or return home at this time. Village students are currently being asked to remain at home. The campus is not closed, but we are trying to limit traffic to essential personnel. The administration will be assessing the situation daily in order to return to in-person classes as soon as possible.
Our school nurse and deans are working hard to keep track of students’ symptoms and provide the best care that they can in this situation, while keeping the rest of the staff and student body protected. The administration is in communication with the Larimer County Department of Public Health and Environment and the Rocky Mountain Conference of Seventh-day Adventists to determine the best course of action as we move forward.
We solicit your prayers for our affected students and staff. We will continue to post updates in this constantly evolving situation.
August 4, 2021 COVID UPDATE
Campion Academy has updated it's COVID policies for the 2021-2022 school year. Based on the latest guidance from the CDC and the State of Colorado, Campion has been able to loosen some restrictions from last year, while still maintaining effective policies to reduce the potential spread of COVID.
Some changes to note from last year include:
Face masks are required at all times INDOORS, regardless of vaccination status. Face masks may be removed while outside.
Students should report any symptoms of illness immediately, but we will not be requiring daily temperature checks and screenings.
The varsity sports program will commence as usual with women's volleyball and men's soccer in August.
Chorale and a full orchestra will be offered.
The student chapel in Hankins Hall will be used for weekly chapels, joint worships, and Sabbath School.
The cafeteria will reopen a salad bar and other self-service items.
Residence Hall students may request off-campus leaves with approved non-family members.
