Q What are you up to these days?

A I am a songwriter and music producer. Currently I am finishing some online education for music production and song mixing. I am also releasing my original songs to all streaming platforms as they become available. The first song I released in this set is titled Dreams and it was released on Nov. 15, 2020. The next song I will be releasing is On My Way and it will be available by mid March.

Q What is your favorite memory or thing about Campion?

A This is a tough one; I have so many good memories there at Campion. I think one of my top memories though would have to be traveling with, practicing, and being on the basketball team. I loved the camaraderie between all of us guys. Being apart of the team where we were all working to better each other is an experience I really enjoyed. I also really looked up to my coaches, Tim Hufman and Troy Beans. Lastly, I fondly remember leading the team chant in the locker room, pre-game, to help hype us up senior year.

Q How did your time at Campion impact your future?

A This would be another fond memory of mine from Campion. During my senior year Mrs. Melia Williams taught a small group of us an AP Music Theory class. It was my time spent in that class and in weekly piano lessons throughout my years at Campion with Mrs. Williams which continued to foster my passion for music within my heart. Taking the AP Music Theory class my senior year gave me the courage to enroll as a music minor my freshman year at SAU, which soon led to me switching my major to music the following year.

Q What kind of post-secondary education or training or certification did you get? Any suggestions for current Campion students who are looking at possible career paths?

A
After my time at CA I attended Southern Adventist University where I graduated with my B.S. in Music, emphasizing in Piano Performance. My goal at the time was to become a touring musical artist and I figured the best way was to gain a deeper understanding of the roots and history of music. My education at SAU was very helpful indeed. The education I received wasn’t helpful so much in the field of songwriting or music production but it was a time of great influence in my life. My weekly classes with my piano professor at SAU were deeply impactful and I am very thankful for my time under his tutelage and guidance.

My top bit of advice for students looking to the future and to make plans is Matthew 6:33. After that I would say follow what God has placed in your heart with complete focus. Do not let yourself be distracted from your God given dream. As for a college education I would generally recommend it. I know for me personally I grew a lot during my college years and I am thankful to have done that in a safe environment like SAU rather than out in the workforce. That being said, college isn’t for everyone. Finally, I want to leave you with this: a college education does not guarantee you the job you are looking for.
A degree will merely take you one step closer:

Hard work, determination, and God’s grace are the only things that can make your dreams a reality.
