Fun Labs for Super Physics Week

5/24/2016

Physics students finished up the year with Super Physics Week, May 9-13, and a selection of 21 labs--some easy, some fun, and some requiring research and challenging calculation.

Mr. Kast says, "Super physics week allows the students to apply what they have learned this year through labs, giving the students the opportunity to explore the principles in a different setting."
Rubbing your hands on the handles of a Chinese Spouting Bowl creates vibrations in the water. Vibrations on the bowl create waves in the water, causing it to spray into the air.

Using a machine that sends vibrations to reeds, students had to find what frequencies cause standing waves on reeds.

The Roman arch lab required students to learn how arches are made, then memorize the structure. The students then rebuilt it and researched the origin of the Roman arch.
