Campion Academy has been traveling to Belize every year for the last 12+ years to help build a junior college in Corozal in northern Belize. This year we worked on a new project in Ladyville, near Belize City. This project involved adding a new wing to an existing school that is busting at the seams. The new addition will double the existing classroom area and provide a space for the children to play when the weather is not suitable for outdoor play. Two groups before us started the process by putting in the foundation and the floor. On the first day of work on the site, we finished pouring the floor. After pouring the remaining floor, five Campion students plus about ten adults including some locals put up the four walls for the first floor. While they were working on that part, five other students and two adult sponsors worked with five different churches to provide nightly evangelistic meetings. The students preached each night as well as visiting two schools in the day to provide opportunities for the students to get to know Jesus. Most of the students in the schools do not come from SDA background. At the end of the week over fifty students asked to be considered for baptism. Several baptisms happened while we were there including one of the pastors, Ricky Crews. He is a junior at Campion Academy. Over all, everyone worked very hard and with God’s blessing we accomplished way more than we had dreamed both in reaching people for Jesus and in the building project. [article by Kent Kast]
